Welcome to my Site! Here you will learn and hopefully understand the power of Raptism (Chapters 1 - 6). Music is and will always be a universal language, and I am using it to express my thoughts and ideals. I am also using my music to share my life with you.
The Meaning of Raptism Lyricists have so much power that they can change the meaning of a word from negative to positive. Nowhere is this more true than in the field of rap music. Take, for example, the word "nigger" or "nigga." This word was used by the Klan to degrade African Americans. Rap lyricists have changed the connotation of "nigga" from negative to positive by using it to acknowledge brotherhood, as in "niggaz for life" or "datz my nigga" or "she's my nigga." Another word transformed by us in this way is "bitch." This word was used by men to degrade women. We lyricists changed the meaning of "bitch" from negative to positive in using it to indicate a woman of power. We hear this intention in "she's a bitch" or "da baddest bitch" or "Southern bitch." There are those who choose to remain in the caveman era and continue to protest the use of these words in any context. That's their prerogative. Ignorance and racism may always exist in some people, but in truth a word only has the power that we give it! I believe we must continue turning negatives into positives. If anyone objects to the content of my lyrics, I have only this to say: "Are you going to be paying my rent?" Keep it real. Can't stop da prophet !
Who Is Da Prophet?
I don't write songs to piss people off. I write songs about my life and about the things that challenge my life constantly. I try to be as truthful as possible. Yet, there are some who just don't get it, and they choose to judge me by their imagining that "rap music" has plagued the world with guns, sex, violence, etc. Yes, I do address these issues, but that is not our only struggle. What about the poor man, the teenage mother, and the dealer, all trying to feed their kids? These are issues that the majority of emcees fail to mention. So, the public pays these issues no attention. The emcees are too busy flossin' off their cars, their women, their money and all the things of this world. How could anyone who brags on themselves ask me to buy their CD to help them get richer when they say they have everything. The rich get richer and the poor become more poor. If any emcee is not speaking on behalf of the ones who cannot speak for themselves, then they are just talking to the walls. Every video nowadays has more riches and flesh than reason and purpose. I hope my message will reach everyone who wishes to see the power of Raptism. And I hope they are blessed by the true message of Hip-Hop.
Grown folks Business When I was growing up, adults always told me to stay out of "grown folks business" when they were talking. In the same way, my lyrics are for grown folks only. You must be 21 years or older to purchase my music.
